National Geographic Islander II, Lindblad Expedition’s newest vessel in the Galápagos Islands, substantially elevates the bar for small luxury ships in the area. Measuring 280 feet long, 46 feet wide, the ship accommodates 48 passengers and offers a 1:1 guest-to-crew ratio, allowing for a more personal onboard experience. In addition, the ship also has an array of additional features, including stabilizers to provide smooth sailing, as well as environmental upgrades like reduced outdoor lighting and recycled water from new air conditioning systems.
Accommodations aboard the National Geographic Islander II are inviting and well-appointed sanctuaries, with each of its 26 suites offering large windows, king/twin convertible beds, a sofa, a marble bath and other cozy comforts. The four Islander Suites have separate living rooms and bathrooms outfitted with a tub, in addition to a glassed-in rain shower. The Santa Cruz Islander Suite can be reserved as a Family Suite with a connecting double suite.
With its emphasis on active exploration, the National Geographic Islander II is well-equipped to continue the Lindblad-National Geographic legacy of supporting conservation and research. The ship includes a Science Hub and two “Cabins for Conservation Galapagos,” which are exclusively reserved for Galápagos community members, local and international researchers, educators and storytellers, the ship offers a true connection to place. Also on board is a fleet of kayaks and stand-up paddle boards, a custom-built, glass-bottom Zodiac, and a flotilla of versatile Mark V Zodiacs—ensuring that all guests can be out exploring at once.
