Or perhaps Skagen is your treat. Grab your paint brushes and sketch books. This is an old Danish favourite. Rich in art and culture Skagen Museum hosts over 1,800 works of art. It is at this famous beach that the Skagerak Sea and the Kattegat Seat, meet at Grenen providing a chiaroscuro of light and colour unique to the area. Fresh seafood can be bought daily off the harbour, and the place is a hive of activity amongst holidaymakers in summer.
And then there is Fredericia on the eastern side of Jutland. Fredericia dates back to 1650 and is a major military home to the country’s Royal Signals Regiment. Rent a car and take a drive to Egeskov Castle or Hans Christian Andersen’s Museum. Denmark is the home of Lego and Legoland is a must for the kids.
