What Actually Changes Between Itineraries?

This is where most people misunderstand Kimberley cruising.

Even within the same itinerary:

  • Tides shift access times
  • Weather alters landing opportunities
  • Expedition leaders adapt routes daily

So no two departures are identical.

That’s not a flaw. That’s the point.

When Is the Best Time for Each Itinerary?

From a seasonal point of view, if you cruise the Kimberley between April and June, the waterfalls will be at the full glory and best. As you encroach upon July, the waterfalls will start to be less powerful, as they are rain fed and start to dry up. However, this is when the humpbak whale migration is at its peak.

On entering the shoulder-season of September, the Kimberley is warmer and equally magical.

  • April–May: Lush landscapes, strong waterfalls
  • June–August: Peak conditions, most stable weather
  • September–October: Warmer, fewer crowds
